Reaseheath College is proud to have partnered with Ibstock, the UK’s leading manufacturer of clay and concrete building products and solutions.
Since the partnership began in 2022, Ibstock has been supporting our Design, Surveying and Planning and our On-Site Construction T Level students to gain additional experience in the industry.
Students studying either of the Construction T Levels we offer at Reaseheath College are benefitting from gaining classroom theory and a substantial industry placement equivalent to 45 days, as well as support from employers in the industry, preparing them for progression onto employment or higher education after their studies.
Ibstock recently hosted a site visit for our Bricklaying, Joinery, and Design, Surveying and Planning students at their factory in Chesterton, where they will now be completing an exciting project building a wellbeing garden for Ibstock’s employees.
After assessing the area where the wellbeing garden will be located, our Design, Surveying and Planning T Level learners will now create a work proposal for our students to work from. Bricklaying learners will build flower beds and amphitheatre style seating while our Joinery students will build a gazebo and benches.
This is not only a fantastic experience for our students, but it also fulfils key aims in Ibstock’s ESG strategy by enhancing green spaces and biodiversity, enhancing the health and wellbeing of Ibstock’s employees, and prioritising zero waste by promoting circularity of materials.
Additionally, Ibstock has donated 10,000 bricks, as well as a number of brick sample boards, to be used by T Level Bricklaying students in their practical sessions and is further supporting all of our T Level students by delivering a number of industry focused seminars, which include advice on how to work more sustainably in the construction industry.
Reaseheath College’s Construction Curriculum Area Manager Andy Gould said: “Employer partnerships like these are vital to enable us to support our T Level learners to the highest standard. The sessions that Ibstock has delivered so far have been brilliant, and we are very excited about the design of the community garden which our T Level learners will help to build later in the year.
“These kinds of experiences, as well as the materials Ibstock has kindly donated, are amazing and will have an immediate positive impact on our students.”
