Reaseheath College celebrated excellence and dedication at its recent PRIDE Awards and Long Service ceremony, honouring outstanding staff contributions and decades of service.
The event highlighted the exceptional efforts of individuals and teams who exemplify the College’s core values – People, Responsibility, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence – while also recognising the unwavering commitment of long-serving staff members who have significantly shaped the Reaseheath community.
The celebrations began with a ceremony to honour the college’s long-serving staff. These dedicated individuals received awards for their years of service, showcasing their lasting impact on the college community.
Those honoured for 20 years of service included James Blakemore, Senior Technologist Food; Emily Jewell, Progress and Personal Development Manager; Analise Boulton, Catering Assistant; Bernie Cadwallader, Catering Outlet Supervisor; Dee Evans, Catering Assistant; Rubi McVeigh, Domestic Assistant; and Stephanie Owen, Recruitment and Events Manager. Geoff Chesters, College Plumber, marked an impressive 40 years of service and received a standing ovation from all staff at the celebration.
The ceremony then moved on to the presentation of the PRIDE Awards:
Alan Mottram, Advanced Practitioner in Forest and Arboriculture, received the prestigious Principal’s Award for his exceptional dedication and impact. Alan is a committed ambassador for the college, always present at events, supporting colleagues, and engaging visitors. His excellence as an educator, revered by students and peers, is reflected in high student retention, pass rates, and satisfaction. Alan played a crucial role in launching the T Level in Forestry and Arboriculture, ensuring the course’s success and the effective use of the specialist equipment fund. His leadership and commitment, even while recovering from a heart condition, were evident in projects like the Centenary Bridge. Alan’s contributions truly epitomise the Reaseheath PRIDE values.
Team Awards
From skills coaches to curriculum developers every member of the Reaseheath Apprenticeships Team goes the extra mile to ensure each apprentice has a successful and enriching experience. This dedicated team of managers, skills coaches, functional skills tutors, and support staff, consistently surpasses targets, building strong relationships with employers and apprentices, ensuring a transformative learning journey that empowers apprentices to not just meet, but exceed their potential.
The Exam Access Arrangements Team was recognised for its outstanding service in organising exam access arrangements, ensuring every student gets the support they need to succeed in their exams. Its members proactive planning skills and quick thinking in emergency situations have created a smoother assessment experience for everyone, significantly enhancing the student experience. The team has also provided extensive training to staff, fostering a supportive environment for learners.
Individual Awards
Katie Jones, Advanced Practitioner – Engagement Specialist, is a fantastic teacher who creates a supportive environment for students to embrace Maths. Katie’s dedication and innovative approach have made her a key team member who actively collaborates and shares insights.
Anna Harvey, Head of Industry Partnerships and Business Growth, has been instrumental in growing the College’s employer network and driving improvements across the college. She is a strong leader and supports her team every step of the way, ensuring the delivery of business benefits for the College and its students.
Learning Technologist Paul Malbon is the go-to person for all things tech and innovative solutions. Paul is hardworking, enthusiastic, and innovative. He works hard to develop and promote digital and immersive classrooms, always searching for new ways to maximise their usage. His efforts in promoting digital learning and training, plus his work as a casual sports coach, have had a huge impact on the college.
HR Leadership and Development Business Partner Susan Poole’s passion for professional development is infectious! She leads the way in creating and delivering training programs that equip staff with the skills they need to thrive at work. Her exceptional leadership and organisational skills have ensured numerous successful staff development initiatives.
Sports Lecturer and Course Manager Jack Armstrong’s dedication has transformed the College’s football academy through strong partnerships and excellent teaching. His proactive approach and enthusiasm make him a valuable asset to the Sports and Public Services team.
As Equine Yard Manager, Kate Butler expertly balances the health of the college’s horses with student needs, even during challenging times. She has expanded horse diversity through partnerships, and her commitment to personalised support has significantly enriched the student experience.
His commitment to high-quality education and his role in delivering T Levels have made Bricklaying Course Manager and Lecturer Darren Keen a role model for staff and students alike. His dedication to the College and his profession is evident in everything he does. He embraces diversity and ensures that every student benefits from being part of the Construction Department.
Foundation Programme Leader Louise Badjie’s passion and dedication have enriched the lives of many students at Reaseheath. She is compassionate, empathetic, and above all, wants the best for her students. Her organisation, teaching excellence, and advocacy for students make her a true embodiment of the PRIDE values.
Approaching retirement, Press Officer Lynne Lomax’s outstanding contributions to Reaseheath College are wide-reaching. She is highly regarded both within her team and across the wider college. As the font of all knowledge when it comes to Reaseheath, she is renowned for her wisdom, humour, and professionalism. A rock within her team, Lynne will be deeply missed.
College Principal Marcus Clinton said: “I especially enjoy the Long Service and PRIDE Awards as they provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the great service and work our staff carry out throughout the year. The real magic is in the palpable sense of collective support in the room – it was clear everyone appreciated each other’s contributions, regardless of who won an award.”
