John Platt previous winners evening a great success!
The event held at Reaseheath on the 9th of March 2015 was very well attended with over 70 guests present. Reaseheath Vice Principal Dave Kynaston kicked off proceedings by welcoming all who attended and giving a brief history of the background of the John Platt Scholarship which he holds very dear to his heart. Three of the previous recipients of the scholarship then spoke about their findings whilst on their travel scholarships. Sara Pederson spoke about ‘Staying one step ahead: are we doing enough to keep the modern dairy cow on her feet?’,Simon Bonner ran through his findings on- ‘Profit from pasture-A comparison of pasture-based dairy systems in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand’ and Rachel Billington talked about her study of ‘UK diversifications which have successfully strengthened the link between agriculture and food’. The evening perfectly summed up all that can be achieved with this scholarship and gave many potential applicants the chance to understand the diverse ways they can use the funding.
