About the department
The Academy of Land and Environment here at Reaseheath College and University Centre provides a unique learning experience for Agriculture, Countryside, Horticulture and Floristry students with course content emphasising the exciting future of sustainable land management. Utilising new investment in technologies and equipment, research and data analysis, field scale and controlled environment cropping as well as hands on experience on our college farm and wider estate gives our students a huge advantage and helps them achieve rewarding careers in the land and environment sector. Improving our natural environment, habitats, green spaces and managing land and food production in a sustainable way are key government strategies and is why our Academy of Land and Environment is pioneering environmental sustainability in land-based education.
We are also about to embark on an exciting time as we begin to deliver T Level Programmes and develop our Institute of Technology through a substantial investment in new technology, resources, and the rapid growth to the curriculum.
“I have worked at Reaseheath College for 15 years and started as a Technician and have worked my way up to Advanced Practitioner/Course Manager in Agriculture. I’m from a farming family background and I have a passion for Agriculture. I love making a difference to a young person’s life, seeing them grow whilst on their course, whether this is someone with very limited farming knowledge and experience driving a tractor for the first time or a someone with more experience telling me they have been able to influence farming decisions on their family farms after what they have learnt at college. Many students keep in touch after leaving college and it’s great to hear what a great time they had with us and to be able to see them progress within the farming industry. I think it’s important to be able to share my experience and knowledge in order to educate the next generation of farmers.”
