At Reaseheath College, we are committed to supporting students who choose to pursue a T-Level in Horticulture or Food Science. Both courses are vital in training the next generation to succeed in critical industries. To encourage recruitment and ensure student success, we are offering a range of financial and academic incentives for those starting in September 2025.
These incentives are designed to reward commitment, enhance learning experiences, and provide students with the resources they need to excel in their studies and future careers.

Financial Incentive – Up to £450 Per Year
Students enrolling on the T-Level in Horticulture or Food Science will have the opportunity to receive a financial bursary of up to £150 per term (a maximum of £450 per academic year).
This bursary will be awarded to students who consistently meet the following criteria:
- High Attendance (Minimum 95%) – Regular attendance is crucial for success. Students must maintain at least 95% attendance each term to be eligible for the bursary.
- Achievement of Learning Targets – Students must demonstrate progress by meeting agreed learning objectives, completing coursework, and achieving set targets in assessments.
- Completion of Assignments & Coursework – All required tasks and assignments must be submitted on time and meet the necessary academic standards.
- Exemplary Attitude & Behaviour – Students should demonstrate professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a positive approach to their studies. Behaviour will be assessed through tutor feedback and engagement in lessons.
Additional Benefits for T Level Students
At Reaseheath College, we want to provide our students with the best possible experience. In addition to the financial bursary, we offer a range of additional benefits to enhance learning and future career opportunities.
- Free Essential Equipment & Learning Resources – Students will receive key resources relevant to their course, including: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – such as gloves, safety boots, and high-visibility clothing (where applicable). Lab Coats & Scientific Calculators – provided for students on the Food Science pathway to support their studies. The estimated cost of this equipment is £80 per student, but it will be fully covered by the college.
- Laptop Loan Scheme – Students will have access to a free laptop loan for use throughout their T-Level studies. This ensures that all learners have access to the necessary technology for research, coursework, and assignments. The estimated value of each laptop is £500, and devices will be available for loan for the entire duration of the programme. Students will be required to return the laptop at the end of their course in good working condition.
- Guaranteed Progression to Higher Education at UCR – Students who successfully complete their T-Level will have the opportunity to progress to a Higher Education course at University Centre Reaseheath (UCR), provided a relevant pathway is available. This ensures a clear route to further study and career advancement.
- Exclusive Industry Masterclasses & Guest Speakers – Students will have access to specialist masterclasses delivered by industry professionals, allowing them to gain first-hand insights into their chosen sector and develop practical, real-world skills.
- Educational Trips & Visits – A range of subject-specific trips will be offered to students, allowing them to gain valuable industry exposure and apply their learning in real-world environments.
- Access to an Industry Mentor – Each student will be paired with a mentor from within the horticulture or food science sector, offering guidance, career advice, and networking opportunities throughout their studies.
- Dedicated Careers and Progression Support – Students will receive personalised careers advice, helping them to explore options for further education, apprenticeships, or employment. Our careers team will provide guidance on CV writing, interview techniques, and job applications.
- Guaranteed Interview for Apprenticeship Vacancies – For students wishing to progress onto an apprenticeship, we guarantee an interview with the Reaseheath College apprenticeship team, helping to maximise future employment opportunities.
- T-Level Student of the Month & Student of the Year Awards – To recognise outstanding achievement, students will be eligible for monthly awards, with an additional T-Level Student of the Year award presented annually. This initiative aims to reward excellence and encourage continued dedication to studies.
Important Terms & Conditions
To ensure fairness and transparency, the following terms apply:
- Bursary Payments: Payments will only be made to students who meet the performance criteria outlined above. This financial incentive is designed to support students while ensuring a high level of commitment and engagement throughout their studies. If a student does not meet attendance or performance expectations, the payment for that term will not be made.
- Laptop Loan Terms: Laptops are provided for academic use only and must be returned at the end of the course. If a laptop is lost or damaged, students may be responsible for repair or replacement costs.
- Industry Placement Requirement: T-Level students must complete a mandatory industry placement as part of their qualification. The incentives are designed to support students in meeting all academic and practical requirements.
- Minimum Cohort Size for Incentives: The bursary scheme will only be available if at least 10 students are enrolled per course. If student numbers drop below this threshold, the financial incentive will not be available.
- Please note: This incentive scheme is only available for students studying the T Level in Food Science or Horticulture.

What are T Levels?
T Levels are a new qualification for 16–18 year-olds, introduced by the Government to give you more options to gain those essential workplace skills and experience.These exciting programmes are the equivalent of A Levels but with the addition of a substantial work placement and are key to the Government’s ambitious programme to provide the technical expertise for the jobs of the future. They offer a mix of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience which includes a substantial industry placement of at least 315 hours.
When are your T Levels starting?
T Levels starting from September 2022:
- Management and Administration (Business)
- Construction – Design, Surveying and Planning
- Onsite Construction Trades (Brickwork, Joinery or Plastering)
T Levels starting from September 2023:
- Tree and Woodland Management and Maintenance (Arboriculture)
- Agriculture (Livestock)
- Land-based Engineering (Agricultural Engineering)
- Food Sciences
T Levels starting from September 2024 onwards:
- Animal Care and Management
- Equine Care and Management
Who are T Levels for?
T Levels are for students ages 16 to 19 years old (20-24 with an EHCP) who want to continue in education for a more vocational course and approach to learning. These courses offer ‘on the job’ career experience as the programme requires an industry placement of 315 hours (45 days).
What is a T Level qualification?
T Levels are equivalent to 3 A Levels.

What happens if I don’t pass Maths and English?
You can still study a transition to T Level programme with us. This will prepare you for a T Level and will allow you to resit your Maths and English at the same time.
