Horticulture
This course is a great starting point if you’re interested in horticulture or its many associated industries.
You’ll be introduced to a range of horticultural careers including grounds maintenance, nursery stock production and retail. When you’ve gained your qualification, you’ll be in a great position to get a job or continue learning.
Theory sessions are balanced with plenty of practical experience working across our campus grounds and on off -site projects.
What will I study?
- Plant and soil science
- Plant identification
- Hard landscaping
- Establishing and maintaining plants outdoors
- Maintaining specialist horticultural features
- Plant selection
- Work experience
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
How long will it take?
- 1 year, full-time
What qualifications do I need to start?
- Typically 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including a 2/3 combination in Maths and English, or
- Level 1 Land-Based Diploma
What qualifications will I gain?
- Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications

- Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horticulture
