Ambition: Travelling racehorse groom
Laura’s keen to get a good career in the equestrian industry and she’s looked at lots of different options while at college.
She’s completed work experience with respected showjumper John Shaw, helping with both the livery and riding school parts of his business, and has also joined our arena party at the Bolesworth International showjumping competition and at Bradwall Horse Trials.
Inspired by our links with the Cheshire Racing Hub, which promotes careers locally within the racehorse industry, Laura now hopes to work as a racehorse groom. This could lead to extensive travel to racing fixtures, both at home and abroad.
Along with her college course, Laura has continued to work at the equestrian centre where she originally learned to ride. She enjoys teaching children so has also considered instructing as a career.
Moving on to our Level 3 Extended Diploma, Laura says: “Working with horses can be physically hard but very rewarding. You learn a lot at Reaseheath because you’re dealing with different horses in different situations but the staff are always there to help if you need them”.
