“Reaseheath Rangers” Senior Academy
What’s it all about?
- A combination of practical activities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Designed for those people who “always wanted to work with animals but never did” or “wish they could have a go at what the students do”.
- This course is for the adults who have an interest in working with animals, or seeing how a zoo collection runs
- Run by zoo keepers and qualified teachers, this gives you the chance to shadow a keeper and find out all you ever wanted to know about each species; its behaviour and husbandry requirements.
- Zoo school candidates must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
- Bring a packed lunch with you for a picnic in the zoo
- Based in our outdoor education classroom- in the heart of the zoo
Daily tasks include:
- Preparing food and feeding animals
- Creating enrichment devices, and providing them to a range of species
- Assisting with maintenance tasks in animal exhibits

- 2nd – 4th August
- 15th – 17th August
The Senior Academy is for adults only. Book from 1 to 3 days for £30 per person, per day and indulge your inner zoo keeper.
