Cheshire Show, netball and the Summer Ball

Over the last week or so there has been yet another monumental effort from the SA working two twelve hours shifts at Cheshire County Show. They managed to earn £610 in donations for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice which is a great addition to our standing total.

Also last week there was a mini netball tournament between male and female staff and students, with the staff coming out on top overall. We managed to raise £24.50 which again has been added to our total.

Summer ball is finally here! The meal has now been changed to a BBQ which we feel is more in tune with the festival theme. The last England match will be shown in the bar as well with the bar being open from 5pm.

This is the end of another year at Reaseheath College, it has been a pleasure being your SA president, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my role this year and have met so many new people that have made the experience great. Wish everyone the very best in the future!

Check in next year!

Summer ball is nearly upon us

Alright guys,

Summer Ball is nearly upon us and we are very nearly sold out of tickets! So if you haven’t got yours yet, make sure you do soon. The meal tickets are also on sale now from the canteen. So if you want to be part of the biggest summer ball meal ever then book your tickets for only £7.00.

The Student Association for next year has now been selected and will be in post from September. You’ll get to know their faces as they will also be on the Fresher’s Crew this September. Elections will be in place from September for new students to assist the in-place SA.

Next week you will see some of the SA at Cheshire Show, where we will be stewarding for the event. In doing this we will gain a donation of £500 to add on to our RAG total for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice. At the moment we have a projected total of £9700, so look out for events that we can raise £300 at to get to our total of £10,000!

Coverage, Open Farm Sunday and the Summer Ball

Alright guys,

The final issue of ‘Coverage’ for this year will be out soon so keep an eye on your inbox. The student magazine has been really successful and will hopefully continue through to next year as well. I’d really like to thank the members of the Student Association who have helped create the magazine alongside our Press Officer.

Open Farm Sunday was a huge success. It was great to see so many people go away inspired with what the farm and our agriculture department do.

Summer Ball tickets are selling rapidly, we have sold over half the tickets in three days so make sure you get yours fast. The meal tickets are also on sale now and you can purchase those from the canteen during its opening hours. This year we’re allowed 200 students for the meal so let’s make sure we finish the year with a bang and get a sell-out!

Summer Ball 2014

Alright guys,

This years Family Festival was a great success, our Principal said it was probably one of the best ever!  The Student Association managed to get 297 people for the world record attempt for the largest ‘Oops Upside Your Head’.  Hopefully our evidence will get accepted and we will have broken a world record.  The weather definitely helped us out as it was warm and sunny all day. To all that attended, thank you for showing your support to the college.

Decorations and materials are now being ordered for our summer ball, these will all incorporate the theme of a festival.  So look out for wellies, daisies and sunglasses everywhere. Tickets have gone off for printing and will be with us in time to start selling on the 1st June. SA members will be going around halls promoting and selling tickets for the Ball so make sure you get yours before they sell out… and they will!

Can I please remind all students thinking of attending summer ball, the dress code is black tie, which is a tradition every year, clean wellies are optional for the ball but not for the meal. The night will be the best of the year, most people regret the things they don’t do rather than the things they do, don’t miss out.

Family Festival…just over a week away!

Alright guys,

We have a big day coming up on the 18th May with the College’s annual Family Festival. We will have a RAG stall selling t-shirts, doing face-painting and decorating gingerbread men. In addition to these activities we will be attempting to break a World Record. We need over 250 people to take part in ‘Oops Upside Your Head’, hopefully aiming to raise a minimum of £250.

Summer Ball theme has now been decided, we are going for a festival theme. The dress code is still as normal with it being a black tie event. The menu choice is currently being negotiated between the catering staff and the Student Association.

The SA will be carrying on with their fundraising over the coming weeks. We have Open Farm Sunday on the 8th June, the same weekend that the three peaks challenge will be taking place. We also have 1000 engine rally and Cheshire Show leading up to summer so RAG is definitely not over yet.

Oops upside your head

Alright guys,

First of all I’d like to welcome back all students from their Easter break, and say that it is not long now till the end of term so can I urge all students to keep going academically. It’s now the business end of the year, what happens next counts towards your future!

Just before we broke up a lot of students took part in our activities for RAG week and managed to raise £900 and with a very generous donation from Meredydd we can say our RAG week total was £1000. This does not mean that fundraising is over, it’s the opposite in fact. Let it serve as a reminder to keep supporting us so we can get as close to our £10,000 target as possible.

We are now looking forward to our RAG social which is going to be on the 8th May from 8pm. The theme is going to be UV Rave and all money raised is going to be donated to RAG, there will be people offering UV face and body paint on entry for a donation.

Sunday 18th May is our annual Family Festival, during this day we will see an estimate of over 10,000 people visit the college on this day, which puts us in good stead for our World Record attempt. We need over 250 people to join us for “Oops Upside Your Head”. We are hoping to raise a minimum of £250 by doing this event and all proceeds go to our RAG charity, St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice.

RAG week events

Alright guys,

Lambing Weekend’s were very successful this year with the second Sunday being one of the busiest days recorded for attendance. It was equally successful for the SA as we raised a total of £1908.17. This is the best ever total for money raised by a Reaseheath Student Association at a Lambing Weekend.

On Wednesday night (12th March) we had a young acoustic guitarist, Tim Gallagher, in the bar and he was amazing! He was that popular with the students we have decided to bring him back in for RAG week. So, if you missed him make sure that you catch him while he is here. Look out for posters around college and come and enjoy.

RAG week events are now all confirmed and promotional posters have gone up in the bar.  We are starting with a Sport Relief/RAG mile on Friday 21st March.  If you want to take part let Sarah Ruff know or if you want to steward and help out that way let myself know. Posters will be put up in halls over the weekend and an individual calendar will be posted underneath doors so there is no excuse for not knowing what is going on.

RAG…it’s coming!

Alright guys,

I attended the Ultrabeat social last week and it was good to see some new faces there. If anyone has any photos from this night then please send them to me via my email – samn@reaseheath.ac.uk. I will put some of the photos up on the Facebook page.

We are now in the final planning stage for our RAG week. We want an all-time high attendance for our events to make this year the best yet!  So far we’ve been planning some of our big events like the beer barrow race, raft race, and RAG Ball.  We also have some new events like the slip ‘n’ slide and Stranded. If you want to take part in any of these events or help organise them then let a member of the SA know.

The second lambing weekend has just gone and we are hoping to have raised a total of £1500. For any students that helped out over either I would like to thank you on behalf of the SA.  You have all done a great job and we want this spirit to carry on through till the end of the year.

RAG week events and our Valentine’s social

We’ve had a great start to our recruitment drive for event helpers in the last week. So far over 20 people have shown an interest, but we’d still like more people to come and help us with our events. These events include of our lambing weekends where you can come and help us with car parking, promote the SA on our stand or do some car washing. We also have all the events yet to be confirmed in RAG week that we will need help with. We are hoping to have 4 events during each day of the week, these will range from our tractor pull to our raft race to our beer barrow race!

Keep an eye out for our presentation which will take place in your tutorial.

This Thursday is our Valentines Social so make sure that you get accustomed to the tradition by welcoming your romantic side. The theme is traffic light so if your available wear green (good to go) if you’re taken wear red and if you’re not sure then wear yellow or orange, £1 of the entry price will go towards RAG.
