Career Ready

Awarded at the end of each academic year, any student who is awarded the Career Ready Passport can be proud to say they have demonstrated a wide range of skills, knowledge and behaviour that will better equip them to progress on their chosen career path.

How does it work?

On achieving different milestones on your college journey, you will be awarded points which, at the end of the academic year, will determine whether you receive a bronze, silver or gold final stamp on your Career Ready Passport Certificate.

These milestones include completing your Career Ready tutorial programme, developing your employability skills, engaging and participating in enrichment, successfully completing your work placement, achieving your study programme and contributing to the college’s PRIDE values.

Rewards

By achieving a bronze, silver or gold stamp on your Career Ready Passport Certificate you will unlock a range of opportunities and perks which could include a reference from the Principal, 1:1 careers coaching and gift vouchers!

Career Ready: Your passport to a great career

Once you complete these steps, you will be awarded your Career Ready Passport and will have successfully achieved your qualification and completed your Reaseheath Experience. You will then be ready to progress straight into employment or on to further study in your chosen field.

Whatever subject area or level of course you choose, your study programme will give you the edge when it comes to progressing successfully into your choice of career.

Your study programme is designed to offer a challenging and exciting learning journey that not only gives you the knowledge needed to succeed in your chosen area of study but also wider technical, academic, personal and employability skills.

Our 5 career ready skills are developed throughout your programme of study.  In addition, our careers team can supports you with CV creation, job applications and job interview preparation.  Our whole career ready offer will help to prepare you for the world outside of college whether that be employment or further study.

Career Ready tutorial programme

Career Ready is Reaseheath’s unique cross college tutorial and pastoral care programme that consists of weekly delivered sessions, guest lectures, activities, events and promotions focusing on a range of personal, social and cultural topics. It has been designed by staff and students to develop your skills and prepare you for a successful career and life in today’s society.

Career Ready topics include staying safe, mental health awareness and wellbeing, employability skills, healthy lifestyles, British values, politics and volunteering.

Skills for employment

Our BeEmployable programme is in place to support you with your career choices. Reaseheath will support you with CV creation, job applications and job interview preparation. Working alongside careers advisors and course teams, we’ll help prepare you for the world of work by developing the right skills for employment:

Work placement preparation

As part of your study programme you will be supported in finding an industry relevant work placement (up to 100 hours) by our dedicated BeEmployable team.

Your placement provides the opportunity to gain valuable employability skills and experience in the workplace – all great for your CV!

Typically you’ll spend 2-3 weeks working in an industry relevant to your course and interest. Whilst on placement you’ll be overseen by a placement supervisor who will provide guidance in the workplace. College staff will also maintain contact with you during your placement.

Careers Advice & Guidance

Our qualified careers advisors will be on hand during your time at college to provide impartial careers information, advice and guidance on your next steps.

You will also benefit from CV workshops, UCAS application guidance , job application and interview workshops to assist in preparing you for success in your chosen career path.

On completing your BeReady Passport and Reaseheath Experience, you will be ready for your next steps. Will you be starting employment, progressing onto degree level study at University Centre Reaseheath or elsewhere, or will you be starting an apprenticeship?

Whatever your next steps, you will be invited to stay with the Reaseheath family by becoming a member of our Alumni Association.

Enrichment

When you join Reaseheath College you’ll become part of the Reaseheath student body giving you access to the many varied and exciting social and recreational opportunities throughout the year.

Progress Coaches

All students will have a progress coach who will provide 1:1 meetings and enable the breakdown of barriers to progress throughout the year. The role of your progress coach is to maximise your level of achievement and to help ensure positive progression to further study or employment.  Your progress coach also delivers your weekly Career Ready sessions.

At Reaseheath you will have access to a wealth of student support including health and wellbeing, careers, finance, transport and safeguarding.
