Advanced Construction Training
We are excited to announce our involvement in the Advanced Construction Training (ACT) project, which aims to develop digital skills in construction across Cheshire.
Warrington and Vale Royal College are leading the project, which is being funded by the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), and Cheshire College South and West, Macclesfield College and UTC Warrington are also involved. Together we will be upskilling the current and future workforce in the construction and nuclear industries through digitalisation.
The project will see us collaborate with employers to develop and promote digital technologies and skills training for the construction industry. As an ACT centre, we can help SMEs and larger companies become more skilled in new technology and provide solutions for their digital requirements. In doing this, we will assist the industry to build high quality, smart, green and efficient buildings and building infrastructures, faster, cheaper and more sustainably than before.
As part of the project, we will receive specialist equipment to develop into a ‘centre of excellence’ for advanced construction, digital and manufacturing skills. The specialist equipment will be used to upskill both prospective employees (our learners) as well as current employees, and will enable us to deliver bespoke technical skills training, apprenticeships, professional and technical qualifications.
This project will be extremely valuable to our construction provision, particularly to our T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning and T Level in On-site Construction. Thanks to the LEP, we will be able to offer training with highly technical pieces of kit and design software, including digital surveying equipment, auto-CAD and VR headsets.
