The Water Environment Grant (WEG) is a scheme under the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) to fund improvements to the water environment. The purpose is to deliver water environment improvements that benefit the rural community and economy.
This scheme is a multi-million pound fund, which is administered by Natural England and the Environment Agency on behalf of Defra. Projects funded through WEG are wide ranging, from work to install natural flood management, removing barriers for fish migration or working with farmers to decrease diffuse pollution.
