Our talented floristry students have continued to prove they are among the nation’s best by qualifying for the RHS Chelsea Future Florist for the fourth consecutive year.
The competition is held at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show (May 22 – 26) and is a national competition open to all colleges and training institutions. The show is considered the best in the world and is attended by HM The Queen, other members of the royal family and many celebrities.
We have taken the runner-up title on previous occasions and hopes are high for an even better result this year. Our student team have just heard they have qualified due to the excellent marks they gained at the regional competition, held at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park last summer.
The team, who were then studying for their Level 3 Diploma in Floristry, created a fantasy bug called ‘Lola the Showgirl’ which was awarded a silver medal and an impressive 18 out of 20 marks for artistic impression. Many of the students have progressed onto their Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry and are looking forward even more keenly to the challenge.
Said Karen Cope: “This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to show off the skills we have learned and we can’t wait to hear the brief for this year. It would be amazing if we came back with another medal!”
Talented former student Robyn Longden, 22, achieved a coveted gold medal in the national finals of the RHS Chelsea Young Florist of the Year in 2017. She now works for top florist and judge Ian Lloyd – himself a former Reaseheath student.
Robyn achieved Diplomas at Levels 1,2 and 3 while she was with us and was a member of the student team at RHS Chelsea and RHS Tatton Park.
