Best stand (Professional Class)
Our college stand was judged the best professional trade stand, thanks to our diverse ‘hands on’ activities, friendly staff and our efforts to engage with and educate the public.
Reaseheath trained dairy technologists took three top awards at the International Cheese Awards, proving they can hold their own against world class professionals.
The students, who are studying on our unique Eden programme, were awarded gold and bronze awards in the highly competitive Student Cheesemaker class after impressing judges with the flavour, texture and taste of their Cheshire and mature cheddar cheeses.
A student-made vintage cheddar cheese also took bronze in the Novice Cheesemaker class.
The Nantwich International Cheese Awards is the world’s largest cheese festival, attracting over 4,500 entries from 32 countries. The Student Cheesemaker class is sponsored by Reaseheath College.
The Eden programme is a unique, ground breaking, education initiative driven and supported by leading dairy companies including Arla, Muller and Dairy Crest which recognise the importance of investing in talented employees.
The technicians attend Reaseheath on a block release basis to study for an internationally recognised Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology. This includes practical training in our industry standard dairy processing halls. The students spend the rest of their time extending their experience in the workplace.
Megan Jones, a former Bakery and Patisserie and Public Services student, was also busy in the cheese awards, both as a steward and as support to celebrity chefs James Martin, Will Holland, Sean Wilson and Jonathon Harrison.
And finally, but by no means least, it was celebrations all round when Reaseheath Dairy Technologists Laura Broome and Elliott Bateman announced their engagement while on our stand at the International Cheese Awards. We wish them all the very best for their future!
