Reaseheath College’s Equine Department has teamed up with Rookery Equine to offer a unique training course specifically dedicated to equine hydrotherapy.
The one year Level 2 Certificate for Equine Hydrotherapy Assistants, which launches this September, provides an exciting introduction to one of the fastest growing areas in the equine industry. Students learn in the classroom at Reaseheath and gain considerable practical skills and work experience at Rookery Equine, one of the UK’s leading Rehabilitation, Fitness and Therapy Centres.
The qualification has been developed to support industry demand for standardisation and regulation within the equine hydrotherapy sector and is endorsed by the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP) and the Institute of Equine Hydrotherapists (IEH). It offers ideal preparation for new entrants or as professional development for those already working with horses or considering a career change, and contributes to IEH membership criteria.
Rookery Equine, which is based in Cheshire near to Reaseheath College, uses leading-edge, innovative technologies and has outstanding facilities which are among the best in the country. The only therapy centre in the UK to hold the prestigious BHS approved facility status, its highly trained team works closely with industry professionals including farriers and veterinary hospitals to provide the highest standards of care to horses ranging from international athletes to retired family friends.
Students will complete work experience at Rookery Equine, gaining first hand experience with real clients at a quality, specialist business, and will also attend weekly practical sessions at the centre learning how to use the technology and equipment. They will also undertake a work placement elsewhere to develop their wider equestrian skills and experience.
