Student Finance
You may be eligible for means tested financial support to help towards the cost of being a student. You can apply for help with accommodation, travel costs, essential clothing and equipment and food whilst you are at college. For personalised support please contact our Student Finance team by emailing studentfinance@reaseheath.ac.uk.
Why do I need to pay tuition fees?
Tuition fees are not normally payable for students aged 16-18. For students over the age of 18, tuition fees do apply. In some circumstances, students age 19-23 may be able to claim a ‘fee waiver’. Please check with Student Finance if this could apply to you. Students over the age of 18 may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover their tuition fees.
You can view the 19+ course fees here. Please note – these fees relate to 2021/222 and are only a guide to 22/23. The fees for 22/23 will be confirmed once updates are received from the funding agency.
What financial support is available?
All full-time further education students who are EEA Citizens and have been resident in England for 3 years may apply online for financial support from the Residential and Discretionary Learner Support Fund (including Free College Meals) for help towards the cost of attending college.
Applications from students who are age 19+ and are resident in a Devolved Combined Authority area (for more information see our FE tuition fees page), will be considered by the relevant authority area.
Students who reside in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own funding arrangements.
Financial support could include: transport costs, accommodation fees, essential clothing and equipment, tuition fees and Free College Meals.
Applications are considered on an individual basis and assessed using household income.
Will I get help towards living at college?
The Residential Bursary Fund is intended to support students who are participating in a designated specialist subject area, in the case of Reaseheath College this would refer to students who are studying a land-based course. This excludes the following subject areas – Food, Business and Events, Construction, Motor Vehicle engineering courses, Public Services and Sport. Eligible students must live outside reasonable daily travelling distance of Reaseheath College. If this is the case, the same course must also not be available at another college that is within reasonable daily travelling distance of home.
How much help will I get?
The amount of assistance that you will receive depends on the assessment of your household income. There are bandings below the £31,000 threshold to determine the level of award, with the maximum amount of assistance going to those on the lowest household incomes.
How do I apply?
Applications are made online on the college website, on the Funding and Financial Support page.
When should I apply?
Please apply as early as possible, the funds awarded to the college by the ESFA are limited. Applications received after 1st September 2020 will only be considered if funds remain. Applications are open now!
Are there any loans I can apply for?
If you have to pay a tuition fee and are over the age of 18, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover these fees. There are no maintenance loans available for Further Education students, these only apply to Higher Education (degree) students.
