Reaseheath College celebrates T Level week

Reaseheath College are one of the first providers across the country to offer the brand new T Level.

Reaseheath College celebrates T Levels Week with 60 new students and the launch of new courses in Business and Construction. From September 2023 Reaseheath College will be offering T Levels in Crop and Plant Production, Floristry, Food Sciences, Land-based Engineering, Livestock Production, Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping, Tree and Woodland Management and Maintenance. Following with Animal Care and Management, Equine Care and Management and Habitat Management (Land and Water) in September 2024.

Reaseheath College are pleased to also offer the T Level Transition Programme which is a new type of study programme, specifically designed to develop the skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto, and success on, a T Level. It provides a high-quality route onto T Levels for students who would like to do a T Level but would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give them before they start their T Level. The T Level Transition Programme will be available for all T Level subject areas.

T Levels are qualifications for 16- to 19-year-olds, taken after GCSEs. They are broadly equivalent in size to 3 A levels and focus on technical and vocational skills. They can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships. These pioneering new qualifications have been designed in collaboration with leading employers to provide the skills that businesses across the region need.

T Levels are unique as they combine classroom study with industry placements so young people gain valuable work experience in their chosen sector. Many of our employer partners who are local businesses including Cheshire Surveys, Evolve Together, Amplo Group, Persimmon Homes and Keepmoat Homes are embracing T Levels as a great way to bring in new ideas and the latest skills, and a new way to find, nurture and secure young talent.

Louise Hilder, Director and Operations Manager at Cheshire Surveys was one of the first employers to support our T Level programme.

Louise said, “I’m really excited to be supporting the introduction of T levels at Reaseheath College. The T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning will be invaluable to the construction and associated industries by providing technical and employability skills for the next generation of students wanted to pursue one of the many careers available within the sector. For Cheshire Surveys being part of the T Level Programme is a great way for us to raise awareness of the career opportunities as a Land Surveyors or Geospatial Engineer whilst also offering our industry expertise and insight to the students to boost their employability and provide encouragement to them as they start their careers in construction””.

Paul Spearitt, Vice Principal Curriculum & Quality at Reaseheath College said, “We’re incredibly proud to have welcomed our first ever cohort of T Level students this September. We are among the first providers in the country to offer these brilliant new qualifications, and it has been fantastic to see how they have been embraced by young people. I’m excited for the new academic year and delighted to mark T Level Week.’’
