Equine Hydrotherapy Assistants
The Level 2 Certificate for Equine Hydrotherapy Assistants programme for 18+ learners has been developed due to demand from the equine hydrotherapy sector for specialist training opportunities. This allows learners to gain knowledge and understanding of working within the equine hydrotherapy industry and enables them to develop the skills required to work as an Equine Hydrotherapy Assistant, ensuring learners are well equipped to progress onto further training opportunities or to gain employment within an Equine Hydrotherapy centre.
This qualification is designed for those with some experience, but would like to undergo formal equine rehabilitation training however, also meets the needs of more experienced individuals. It is appropriate for those who are:

- Seeking development of enhanced clinic skills and knowledge
How long will it take?
- 14 weeks
- Sunday and Monday 9:30am-4:30pm
- Course start date: 6th January 2025
What qualifications do I need to start?
- No formal qualifications, however, a basic level of horse handling competency (equivalent BHS Stage 1 level) and be able to evidence working in the equine industry.
- The College would encourage learners to undertake evening maths and/ or English classes to upskill in these areas if they have not already achieved a C/ Grade 4 in both, however this is not mandatory for 19+ students.
What qualifications will I gain?
SEG Awards Level 2 Certificate for Equine Hydrotherapy Assistants
This qualification is pass/fail. Assessment includes:
- Internal assessment
- External assessment (Anatomy and Physiology unit)
- Internal and external moderation.
- Portfolio of evidence for work experience.
Students would undertake a proportion of work experience at Rookery Equine on a rota basis throughout the programme. Students would access the Rookery Equine facilities for practical sessions to undertake specialist units.
This qualification does not alone qualify an individual to be an equine hydrotherapist, but helps contribute to EIH membership
